H 3094 To Be Discussed in SC House Judiciary General Laws Subcommittee

action-alert

The first firearms related bill to make it onto an agenda this legislative session is H 3094, known as the "Open Carry with Training Act," will be discussed in the South Carolina House Judiciary General Laws Subcommittee at 9 AM Thursday, February 4, 2021 in Room 516 of the Blatt Building. Due to social distancing requirements, the committee asks that anyone who wishes to view the meeting do so using the live stream link. There will be no public testimony at this meeting. A future meeting on the bill will be scheduled to receive public input. Written testimony may be emailed to HJudGenLaws@schouse.gov.

We understand that requiring a permit is STILL an infringement on our 2nd Amendment rights, but any step forward is welcome. As of the writing of this post, there are 67 representatives who have signed on as sponsors of this bill, including 3 Democrats. There are 124 representatives. That is over half of the members of the House of Representatives signed on as sponsors, so this has a great chance of passing the House and moving on to the Senate. Again, this is not a perfect bill by any means, but it's still a step in the right direction. Please contact your representatives, and this committee in particular right now, to let them know your feelings on H 3094.

I support this bill H3094 and appreciate all of your hard work in this matter. I hope that others who come here to visit will choose to agree with what is being done here and join this cause.

This is a first step but in SC a necessary one.

I tried to watch this meeting on the promised “live stream” and saw nothing an excuse for “technical issues”…really? Why is it that the other streams didn’t seem to have an issue? I’d sure like to hear an answer to that.

Sherra Scott says:

I’m not sure why you had issues. I watched it streaming with no problem.
